Overview
The SEU Mock Trial Team is making its mark on the national stage, recently competing at the American Mock Trial Association Regional Competition in Charlotte, North Carolina. Facing top-tier opponents like UNC Chapel Hill, William & Mary, Wake Forest, and the reigning national champion, the University of Virginia, our students demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication. Through mock trial, students gain invaluable experience in critical thinking, public speaking, and legal strategy—skills that extend far beyond the courtroom. Competing at this level requires resources for travel, training, and competition fees. Your support on SEU Giving Day empowers our team to continue excelling, representing SEU with excellence, and preparing for future success. Every gift makes a difference—invest in our students and help them reach new heights!
Student Quote
“In speech & debate I’ve learned how to publicly speak, critically think, research, argue, articulate my thoughts, and expand my worldview. These skills will be vital in my career as a lawyer, but they are of even greater importance to my life as an informed citizen. Anyone who develops these skills can utilize them in whatever path God has called them to!” - Serena Dalton
Student Quote
“Mock trial has been an opportunity to both develop and test my skills in public speaking, case analysis, critical thinking, and professionalism. While I am pursuing a degree in criminal justice and legal studies, I find that mock trial has given me a distinct advantage that it benefits all majors and helps us develop our talents. These skills are crucial in fulfilling the mandate set forth in 1st Peter 3:15, where we are to be prepared to give an answer for the hope that is within us.” - Collin Quirk
