Overview
The Link Program exists to help students with mild intellectual disabilities increase their independent living, employability and self-advocacy skills. The role the larger community plays in students reaching their goals is vital, as students require internship experiences, social engagement and opportunities to practice independent living skills. The Link Program has demonstrated successful outcomes for the past 6 years, as measured by annual surveys and research projects. However, as the program evolves, there are several ways we can continue to enhance the students' experience. We have goals to increase the number of internship partners, increase the number of paid internships, and provide funding for professional development opportunities for students.
